How to Put On Olive & June Press On Nails

First, find the press on nail that is the best fit for each of your nails.

Next, prep your nails. Push your cuticles back with the cuticle pusher, file and buff them, then wipe them with the prep pad.

Optionally, you can apply a thin layer of Olive & June nail strengthener as a primer.

Last, starting at your pinky and working towards your thumb, apply the press on nails with nail glue and hold each one for 30 seconds to ensure they adhere.

Depending on whether you want to wear your press-on nails for one day use, short term use (up to 7 days), or long term use (7+ days), apply the nail glue as follows.

For one day use: Apply a thin line of nail glue down the middle of your nail bed.

For short term use: Apply a thin line of nail glue down the middle of your nail bed, as well as two dots on the sides of the line at the middle of your nail bed.

For long term use: Apply and spread glue all over the press on nail and your natural nail.

The entire process takes about 10 minutes total.

How to Remove Olive & June Press On Nails

There are two ways to remove Olive & June press on nails.

First, you can soak your fingers in warm soapy water for about 15 minutes. Then, use the wood stick that came with your press on nails to pop your press on nails off. They will likely remain intact and able to be reused again.

Second, you can also use Olive & June’s press on removal system, which comes with the full Olive & June press on nail system. First, file the top glossy layer of the press on nails. Then, soak the sponges with the bottle of acetone and place the sponges inside the nail caps. Place your fingers in the nail caps, with the press on nails touching the sponges. Soak them for about 15 minutes. Then peel the press on nails off, or pop them off with the wood stick that came with your nails.

If any nail glue remains on your natural nail, buff it off with a buffer.

Thereafter, you can use Olive & June’s cuticle serum and/or nail strengthener to fully restore and hydrate your natural nails. (I highly recommend this step, as the removal process can be somewhat drying.)

I like to also keep my nails natural (meaning without any nail polish or press ons) for at least a day or two thereafter so that they can get some oxygen.

Pros and Cons

Now, for my honest review of Olive & June press on nails! I have used three different sets now, and here are my thoughts on the pros and cons.

Pros: I like them better than any other press on nails I have tried, particularly because they come in short lengths, which I prefer. I got compliments every time I went out in them (as well as from my husband!), so I think they really gave off the look of a really great professional manicure.

You can also cut and file them to achieve your desired length, as well as paint them with nail polish, which is great for trying a new look while wearing them or adding nail art.

I didn’t find Olive & June press on nails to be damaging to my natural nail. Removing them can be scary, but once I buffed the excess glue off, hydrated with cuticle serum, and applied nail strengthener, my nails looked totally back to normal.

I also like how many extra nails you get as well as how transportable the nail glue is, so you can carry them with you in case one pops off while you are out.

Cons: Despite the large volume of sizes offered with Olive & June press on nails, I still could only find perfect fits for 3 of my 5 nails. The other two were fine, but not perfect.

The first two times I tested them, a few of them popped off within the first few days. However, I did easily reapply them.

(I will also note that, by the final time I wore Olive & June press on nails prior to writing this post, I had a better sense of how much glue to apply and none of them popped off within the entire week I wore them, even though I used the “short term” application method.)

The nails that have designs on the tips need to be cut from the bottom if you want to shorten them, which I haven’t tried personally but seems challenging to me.

Lastly, despite the fact that Olive & June press on nails are made from recycled materials, I still did feel bad wearing them from an environmental standpoint, especially since I will never use all of the nails.
