About Encyclopedia Brown and Donald J. Sobol
about
Encyclopedia Brown is a mystery series of children’s books starring a ten-year-old boy named Leroy Brown whose father is the police chief in an average American town named Idaville.
People call him Encyclopedia because he is so good at solving local mysteries. He often works alongside his partner Sally Kimball and against the town bully, Bugs Meany, the leader of the Tigers gang.
Each book consists of several short stories that challenge readers to solve the mysteries themselves before revealing the solutions at the end. Known for clever puzzles, the series both entertains and educates, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills in its readers.
The Encyclopedia Brown books by Donald J. Sobol have been translated into 12 languages and have sold approximately 50 million copies worldwide. In 1976, Sobol won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for the famous book series.
The books were also adapted into a TV series in 1989.
